One of the perfect activities for this time of year (Fall is our favorite season, btw) is apple and pumpkin picking. And just a short drive over the Mississippi river and up the Great River Road, is the perfect place to do both and much more, Eckert’s Family Farm in Grafton, Illinois.
We recommend Grafton for the views and beautiful drive, but they also have locations in Belleville, IL, Millstadt, IL, and Versailles, KY.
This past weekend we loaded up our family of 9 (about to be 10) and headed to Grafton for the afternoon. We enjoyed playing with the goats and Zebu cattle, playing on the big play set and just enjoying the Fall air.
If you’re looking for something to do locally, Eckert’s is a great place to go. They’re open all year round and have much more than ‘pick your own’ crop.
Other great things to do in that area: Pere Marquette State Park and Lodge, the City of Grafton, and the Grafton Ferry.
